What is Leadpages?

It is a set of tools that helps you to grow your business by helping your company to capture more leads and convert them into paying customers. Leadpages is known for its landing page builder and highly effective pop-ups.

Using Leadpages’ Leadpage Editor, a simple, drag-and-drop tool, you can create effective landing pages yourself. No design or development experience required. This makes it one of the best landing page builders 2021.

Leadpages Features

This landing page builder has a few separate but connected features. Let’s quickly look through them.

At the core of Leadpages is its Landing Page creator. And it offers the following:

1. Drag-and-drop editing

Leadpages has an intuitive and glitch-free drag and drop landing page editor the company launched in 2016.

2. Leadpages templates.

There are over 150 free landing page templates plus a huge marketplace of paid landing page templates.  With these, you can quickly and easily create new landing pages, because all you’ll have to do is edit the text and publish. All the work has pretty much been done for you.

The templates come in two main forms: Standard and Drag-and-Drop. The Drag-and-Drop templates have more customization options than the Standard templates.

The landing page builder has some of the best free features the industry has to offer. They are categorized according to purpose and industry, so they are easy to find. And nearly all of them are mobile-responsive, so they render well on most mobile devices.

Whatever you need, this landing page builder has got it. Whether it is a lead capture template or a landing page for a special giveaway, you’ll find it.

However, Leadpages’ templates are not perfect. But, they are still a great feature for businesses, but there are some flaws I’ll mention later in the pros and cons section.

3. Leadboxes(pop-ups)

Leadboxes or pop-ups are ubiquitous. You’ve probably encountered them somewhere before. And they are useful because they help to grab your visitor’s attention at just the right time. This is mainly because they are crisp and professional-looking. They also come with automatic settings which make them pop up at the height of your visitor’s interest.

Leadboxes are set to pop up:

  • When a user clicks a button or link
  • On a timer, or
  • As your visitor is about to exit in the last effort to keep their attention

Leadpages allows you to create one of these high-converting Leadboxes in a matter of minutes. You can do this in a matter of minutes using a drag-and-drop editor. You can connect your Leadbox to your email service provider, so new subscribers are automatically signed up to your preferred email list.

Tip: Enable Leadbox Tracking

Leadbox allows you to track every visitor’s interaction with your pop-up. You can track details like how long they keep the pop-up open and whether or not it accomplishes its goal of getting a sign-up or click.

To evaluate the performance of a Leadbox, you can track it with Google Analytics. This way, you can see what strategies are working for you and which ones aren’t.

4. Alert Bars

Have you ever seen those little bars at the top of your screen that alerts you to a sale/ giveaway or offer a free product? Those are alert bars. They help to increase conversions by making the most of screen real estate. Leadpages does exceptionally well in this department. Leadpages allows you to create irresistible alert bars that scream for your visitors’ attention.

Designing them isn’t that much harder either. Even if you are new to the platform, you will be able to easily find your way. Leadpages will walk you through the process step-by-step, including how to add text, colours and themes. In less than 3 minutes, you will have your custom alert bar.

5. Leadlinks

Email trigger links or Leadlinks is a feature that let your visitors sign up for promotions in one easy click.

Let’s say you are running a webinar.

You would normally have to send a broadcast email to all the members of your email list with a signup button that will redirect the reader to the webinar’s landing page. And if they wanted to learn more about the event, they would have to click that link and enter a bunch of personal information to sign up for your webinar.

Leadpages changes the way you do things in this respect. Leadlinks allows you(or an affiliate) to insert the link into the email, and when someone clicks it, they are instantly signed up. No extra information is required this way. All they have to do to be registered is to click a link!

6. LeadDigits

This feature helps you to reach out to prospects where they spend most of their time – their mobile phones.

LeadDigits allows you to collect phone numbers to get email signups, send coupons, or promote your business via text messages. Most of us already spend our entire lives glued to our phones.

7. A/B Testing

The only way to know what works for you is to test your ideas. It’s not enough to just put up a landing page and hope for the best.

Leadpages makes it easy for you to A/B test your landing page right from your dashboard. This split test helps you to see which version of the landing page will perform best.

From here, you can set the control page, make a copy and, implement any changes you want to make(like changing the CTA, for example). You can also direct traffic to the different landing page variations you create.

Leadpages also allows you to control how much traffic goes to each variation. However, this is some advanced stuff.

8. Integrations

Leadpages’ integrations are some of the best in the industry. Unlike many landing page editors, they integrate with many social media, video, payment and  CRM programs.

You can connect Leadpages to virtually any email, payment processor, webinar tool, social media platform, analytics program, or scheduling program of your choice.

8. Customer service

This landing page builder has real human beings behind their avatars and not chatbots programmed to answer the top 10 FAQs only.

Also, they have a vast library of resources or, as they call it, “knowledge base” to help solve your problems.

The experience I’ve had with the customer support so far has been mostly good.

Now let’s look at a quick, step-by-step “how-to” to show you how easy it is to use Leadpages.

How To Use Leadpages

Step 1) Start Leadpages and Click “Create New Leadpage”

You will find the Landing Pages tab within templates. All this can be found on your account’s dashboard.

You’ll notice that you can choose between Drag & Drop or Standard.

Step 2) Pick a template and edit

Now let’s make a landing page using your chosen template.

Each template has prebuilt sections. This makes it incredibly easy to modify, rearrange, add or delete any aspect to your liking.

Widgets hold all of the content on your new landing page. Each content section has its widget. In essence, this means your:

  • Title
  • Subtitle
  • Call to action
  • Images

These sections are held in predetermined areas. To edit, just click on that widget.

Editing Widgets

For Drag & Drop templates can click the widgets tab on the left, then drag and drop elements onto your page for editing. These elements include:

  • Images
  • Text
  • Videos
  • Countdown
  • Progress bar

And that’s not all. Leadpages grants you complete control over the look and feel of your landing page.

Apart from adding widgets, you can edit the dimensions and structure of your page too.

Editing Page Layout

To edit your page’s layout, go to the section titled, “Page Layout.”

From here, you can add or remove sections, rename sections or do anything else with them. It’s your landing page you are creating after all. You can even get into further detail and customize everything from font sizes to colours using the Page Styles tab.

The paintbrush icon below Page Layout is Page Styles. This is where you can edit:

  • Background
  • Width
  • Font
  • Custom CSS
  • Favicon

All this is pretty easy considering you just made a fully functional landing page from scratch by clicking just a few buttons.

Now, it’s time to get your page published.

Step 3) Publish your page

Before going live, I recommend previewing your page.

Just click the preview button, it’s easy.

From here, just click the Publish button and you’re all set.

Pro Tip

Leadpages lets you publish your website or theirs (they, however, require you to use a subdomain, for example, Store.Yourdomain.com). This puts many people off big time. Don’t do it too.

Leadpages Pricing

How much does Leadpages cost?

Leadpages is not cheap.  The price starts at $25/month (billed annually).  Pricing is one of the main setbacks that come with Leadpages. This is especially so because most of the high-value features are not available with their cheapest, Standard plan.

It is, however, worth the price. If you have the money, $300 doesn’t sound so bad for a tool that reduces landing page creation to a few clicks and some dragging here and there. However, when you read between the lines, you’ll quickly see the devil in the details. The Standard plan doesn’t include:

  • Unlimited A/B Testing
  • LeadDigits
  • Leadlinks
  • Sub accounts
  • Online sales and payments

If you are interested in these features, you’ll have to upgrade to either:

  • Pro @ $48/mo, or
  • Advanced @ $199/mo

But, let’s make something very clear. The Standard plan has everything a business needs to create the best, high-converting landing pages.

This plan includes features like:

  • Unlimited landing pages
  • Unlimited alert bars
  • 200+ templates
  • unlimited pop-ups
  • Facebook and Instagram ads builder
  • Group coaching

You don’t need much else.

For instance, if you are running a small business with the Standard Plan, you can create a landing page, add a pop-up and an alert banner, and make social media ads.

Sure, you will not get most of the advanced features, but if you ask me, its already just enough to keep you happy. If you can’t afford $2400/year, you aren’t missing out on much either.

Verdict: It is clear that Leadpages is pricey. But, if you are interested in all its juiciest features, the Standard plan has, frankly, more than enough to create high-converting landing pages. And it’s the cheapest plan Leadpages has.

Pros and Cons of Leadpages

Just a summary of the advantages and disadvantages of Leadpages.

Pros

Templates. Leadpages has a template for almost all functions and business niches. All you have to do is find a template to match your goals or browse through options custom made for your industry. All the hard work has already been done for you by Leadpages.

Usability. Leadpages has an intuitive widget system and a drag-and-drop editor that doesn’t get any easier to use. No experience is required to use these features. In just a few clicks, you’ll have a professional-looking landing page.

Lots of features without complexity. Leadpages has some great features like Leadlinks, LeadDigits, alert banners, pop-ups, in-depth analytics, and social ads. Fortunately, all these features come together in a neat package that is super easy to use.

Integration. Leadpages is rich in integrations. It comes with over 40 standard integrations like Facebook ads, Google Analytics,  and live chat software.

Cons

Pricing. Leadpages doesn’t come cheap. It will set you back a minimum of $300/year without the advanced features. On the bright side, it gets you the value for money that so many other platforms don’t.

Wonky drag-and-drop editor. This is one of the flaws I had mentioned earlier.  The editor’s widget boundaries are a bit off and sometimes, an element snaps into the wrong place or it does not end up where you want it to go. You can also delete elements wherever you’d like but then, you just end up with awkward spaces that are near-impossible to fill in.

Standard templates aren’t customizable. You are better off using the Drag and Drop templates if you want something customizable. You cannot edit standard templates even though Leadpages claims otherwise.

Final Thoughts

Leadpages is the best landing page builder 2021. Fact! And this makes it 100% worth it despite the price. It has one of the best landing page templates that will help you create high converting landing page designs.

It also has one of the best free plans you can get. And this makes it the best affordable landing page builders we have on the market.
