100+ Guilty Pleasure Songs You Probably Already Love

So, what is a guilty pleasure? Guilty pleasures are an interesting mix of pleasure, pain, and pure ecstasy. Which is why the guilty pleasure definition of, according to Oxford, “something that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard,” doesn’t do it justice.

What makes something a guilty pleasure, anyway? It’s almost as if guilty pleasures need to induce feelings of guilt as you enjoy them. You need to like them, but be aware of their faults. And this is what gives them that intangible quality that makes you know you are enjoying a guilty pleasure.

I think this list of guilty pleasure songs has managed to compile all the songs with this quality. We have all the songs you secretly love but will never play out loud in your car.

Whatever your guilty pleasure may be, these songs are songs that everyone knows well. They are perfect for singing along to, and for riding all the sadness, joy, and memories in them. Of course, if anyone else found out that you know any of these word for word by heart you’ll have to kill them.

Final Thoughts

Sure, a lot of the guilty pleasures music on our list come from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Those were the good old days and we reckon in a decade or two our kids will be playing power ballads from this decade as their very own guilty pleasures. It’s a generational thing, I guess.

We’ve also seen lots of great picks from this century, from “Rude” by MAGIC! (I dare you to get this song out of your head!) to good ol’ Tay Tay’s 2012 hit song “I Knew You Were Trouble” (please don’t fight me! haha!).

So, think we missed something? What are your guilty pleasures? Are you more of a classics fan, loving some Celine Dion “Because You Loved Me” and Journey “Don’t Stop Believing”, or do you prefer something more recent, like Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven”? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for reading! 🙂
